Heavy snowfall, cars crashing into power poles, broken tree branches - to me, these are all logical causes of a power outage.
Snakes are not.
The first time a black snake got tangled in a power line and made an entire neighborhood go dark, I filed it under "Great story for a laugh next time the lights go out at a party."
Then it happened again. And again.
Snakes are apparently a common cause of power outages here in the South, which is both weird and upsetting to a girl from the desert.
I suppose the good news is it's not giant cockroaches.

Blah! Suckiness. I'll take wandering deer through my golf course to power hungry snakes any day.
Snakes and the South. I am so glad I don't live near them anymore. I think I encountered several growing up in MO. That is not a good thing for a girl who hates them.
Is that the snake before or AFTER the roasting? Either way it is bizare!
Ok now, is the snake black because of the electrocution? I don't think I could feel like sleeping--ever--with those things on the loose.
I've never seen a snake here, thank goodness. And that photo is just some random snake pic I found online. But I do notice that it's always a "black snake" reported by the power company. Maybe that's the only kind we have here. Black before the power outage. Blacker after?
