I'm completely engrossed in this book right now. It's a collection of glimpses into the lives of young Arab Americans living in the melting pot of Brooklyn post 9-11. I think it's captured me because while I've always felt conspicuous for my amazonian height, strange hair and unusual looks, but I've never felt targeted for my appearance, heritage or religion even. I have no idea how it feels to be a problem. Thanks to this book, I'm learning what I've been missing . . and how lucky I am.
Welcome to my blog. Nothing too serious here. Just friendly updates and ramblings on life. NPR, accordions, French films and family are a few of my favorite things.

strange look?
you mean your chosen style, not your physical appearance, right?
because i think you are beautiful. totally gorgeous.
so there!
Maybe "distinctive" would be a better word? Whatever it is, it's not typical and people like to point it out. You are very sweet Mel.
me second that first comment.
