Choucroute

I made a tasty meal tonight in my crockpot that doesn't look nearly as lovely as the photo above (which I borrowed from another blog). But it tasted great!

"Choucroute" is French for sauerkraut. An Alsatian woman in one of the areas I served as a missionary used to make it for us. A big pot of sauerkraut with potatoes and bratwurst. I got some baby red potatoes and garlic and herb chicken sausage at Trader Joes. Rinsed the sauerkraut. Threw in a can of chicken broth with some sage, coriander, salt and pepper and let it simmer on high while I watched a few episodes of The Unit on DVD.
And voila!

I hope my sister Liz isn't reading this because she's got a bad case of pregnancy nausea and I'm sure that description did her in for another round. But yay! I'm gonna be an aunt again. And I don't have to cook for three days. An excellent start to the week.

I am for sure not pregnant because that actually looks good at 8 in the morning! And it was probably the perfect companion to the Bachelor!
