Charlotte is that girl from high school who always had some traumatic thing going on in her life and always seemed to be in the spotlight because of her woes.
We're still so short on gas that cable news channels are showing our long-lines and friends are calling me from all over the country asking if it's as bad as it looks on TV. Yes, it's that bad.
And while Charlotte was the 2nd largest banking center in the country (NYC is #1) when I moved here 9 months ago, it's not anymore because Wachovia was sold today. This is very, very big - and possibly devastating - news for this town.
I've had enough of all this drama.

My brother works for Wachovia.
He and I were out to lunch on Friday. We talked about what might happen. He said they were in talks about selling the bank portion.
He didn't feel it would affect him too significantly since he's part of the investment portion.
That said, he was adamant about how important it would be to have the bill pass. He felt that people just have no idea how critical it is to have the bill pass in full right away. Not half the money or a quarter the money but all of it. It's already a little bandaid for a Trillion Dollar industry.
So it'll be interesting to see how much worse things will get now that the bill is, at least presently, dead.
I wish we could do something for you over there, but I hear that the post office frowns upon shipping gasoline through the mail system.
How much this must affect your life, I am sorry. I hope it gets better for you soon!
