The primary reason I shop for clothes at thrift stores is that when I find something that suits me perfectly, I can't resist. No need to obsess about it, lose sleep or feel guilty, because I can always afford $4.
Apparently the same applies to condos. I've been very happy in my cozy little rental, but always in the back of my mind I planned on buying something this summer. I started scanning the listings casually a few months back, waiting for a condo to meet my very specific list of criteria. When one finally did yesterday, it surprised me. Less than 24-hours later, I've got an offer out.
The price is very right and it's exactly where I wanted to be - about 6 blocks from where I currently live. There's a great little tree-enclosed patio off the living room, and more kitchen counter space than I've had in at least ten years - which isn't saying much. Oh, and let's not forget the pool. I'm not a big pool-lounger, but this summer heat just might make me a convert.
Don't look for the place on the pages of a Modern Living magazine. But if it all works out, I'll slowly be buying it from the bank soon. My grandpa's always saying property is the best place to invest your money. It worked for me in Utah. We'll see if Charlotte does the same.
